For the betterment of our planet

Our Sustainability Strategy

At Chobani, our commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond crafting delicious and nutritious food. It’s at the heart of everything we do. We believe that business can be a force for good in the world, driving meaningful change in our communities and beyond.

Our sustainability program supports us to improve the ways we operate, source goods, and design our packaging, to ensure we play our part to reduce harm to the planet and support human rights in our supply chains.

We understand that true sustainability progress takes time, effort, and continuous improvement, but we are committed to this path. We choose to work with our partners, suppliers, and customers, to design and deliver solutions for the betterment of our planet and future generations.

Our sustainability program revolves around four fundamental pillars: sustainable packaging, responsible sourcing, responsible operations, and energy and emissions.

Where do we focus our energy?

____

Energy & Emissions

We’re committed to reducing our impact on climate change through exploring renewable energy options, focusing on process optimisation, and developing a roadmap to cut emissions across our operations and supply chain. In 2024, we will undertake a comprehensive assessment of our full Australian operations to identify opportunities to make products more efficiently, with less energy, and will start scoping behind-the-meter renewable energy options, like solar.

Responsible Operations

Our ambition is to continually improve our production methods to reduce water consumption and waste generation, and to increase our recycling. With a multi-disciplinary team of experts working together to improve our responsible operations, including staff from our sustainability, quality, manufacturing and engineering teams, our focus remains on planning and executing changes that deliver lasting impact.

Responsible Sourcing

In 2024, we launched our new Responsible Sourcing Program, representing a major stride towards enhancing our diligence in identifying and mitigating risks relating to human rights, climate, and nature throughout our supply chain. Over the next three years, we will work with our business and suppliers to implement our responsible sourcing Action Plans to establish a more sustainable and equitable supply chain.

Sustainable Packaging

We focus on designing our packaging in line with the APCO Sustainable Packaging Guidelines. As of June 2024, 94% of our packaging can be recycled in Australia and all our packaging includes the Australasian Recycling Logo, helping consumers understand how to recycle or dispose their packaging in the best way. As we look forward, we continue to explore new opportunities to contribute to the 2025 National Packaging Targets. We’re proud of the significant progress we’ve made to date and have been recognised on our journey towards sustainable packaging. Read about our progress in our 2023 APCO report.
